Во времена более ранних династий, до появления круглых вееров, эти веера в форме флага широко использовались мужчинами и женщинами всех сословий. По виду он был похож на большой мясной нож, отсюда и название — Дао Шань刀扇 «веерный нож».

Также известен как Ху Шань 户扇 из-за своей формы, похожей на иероглиф Ху 户.

Разработан так, чтобы его можно было аккуратно вращать в руке, чтобы добиться приятного ветерка и свести к минимуму лишние движения. Выбирайте более короткую или длинную ручку: любая длина станет идеальным аксессуаром для любой эпохи, предшествовавшей династии Тан.
